CEO and Founder of Steadfast Developments
As the CEO and founder of Steadfast Developments Cherie’s main goal is to end poverty for families in the DTES through a proven 6 stream strategy proven by other revitalization masters from around the world. Cherie leads a dynamic development team of consultants who are legendary in their own right and who tackle poverty head on with affordable housing, social enterprise, education, partnerships, intentional community development, the arts, health and wellness and parks and recreation. One of her main social justice principles is redistribution of wealth so that all families, especially the poor, will have equal opportunity to home ownership through a radical rent to own model. She believes in inclusion and collaboration and not gentrification as a success strategy to revitalizing the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. Another one of Cherie’s goals is to have an all female development team in the next 10 years.
Cherie also believes in the motto: People. Planet. Profit. All of Steadfast Developments new builds are built out of mass timber with the highest step code and passive house certification. By building this way we eliminate 30% of construction waste emptied into the landfill every year. Her buildings also have community gardens, solar panels and all of the highest level of environmental ratings.
Cherie lives in a community house with 11 other people that opens its doors regularly to share their meals and their table with their neighbors. She and her husband of 24 years, chose to raise their 5 children in this way to show what it means to “love thy neighbor.”
