Shawna is the founder and creator of Yoga With Shawna (a yoga studio in Imperial Beach), the Holistic Health Institute of San Diego (a holistic health school that offers over 12 certification programs) + San Diego Yoga Festival (San Diego’s largest beach side yoga festival). She has created a powerful place that offers various healing services to the community along with providing internship experiences for her students in her certification programs. She has published over 19 books + manuals, taught thousands and thousands of classes throughout the world for over 12 years and has certified hundreds of people in various holistic healing modules from yoga to breathwork to energy work to aromatherapy to sound healing.
Shawna has a Masters in Writing + Curriculum Development and BA’s in Education + Sociology. Before she became a full time yoga teacher, she was a writing professor for 7 years. Education is very important to her and she has the skills and experience to meet each learner where they are at.
She has been a teacher for over 20 years.
Shawna leads yoga and couples retreats throughout the world from the California desert to seeing the Northern Lights in Alaska to basking in the sacred energy of Tulum, Mexico. She also owns a retreat center with her husband in Twentynine Palms, CA called Desert Dimension. It is a special place that has 6 geodesic domes and a 3 bedroom house along with various healing areas and yoga studios on the 5 acres ! It is a must experience as it is only 15 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park. Shawna + her husband opened a third healing center in 2023 in Oakhurst, CA called Yosemite Yoga + Wellness. It is a space for the community to experience holistic health classes in the community.
Last, Shawna has her own essential oil line where she works closely with the farms or distills the oils herself to ensure they are high quality and the purest of the pure. She helps others start their own essential oil and plant medicine brands sharing pure oils and products. She also distills trimmings of plants to be recycled into medicine from organic Christmas Trees, to fire prevention trimmings in the Yosemite Area to invasive “weeds” in San Diego.
