Julie Estrada came to LEGOLAND ® California Resort in 2003 after more than 13 years working in the media, most recently at KUSI-TV in San Diego. Estrada held many positions in 10 years at KUSI-TV, being one of the first female Executive Producers at the independent station. She began her career in television news as an investigative news intern working for Harvey Levin at KCBS News in Los Angeles followed by KGTV News in San Diego. Since coming to LEGOLAND California Resort, she has helped open SEA LIFE ® Aquarium, LEGOLAND ® Water Park, LEGOLAND ® Hotel and LEGOLAND ® Castle Hotel. Her public relations expertise has been shared throughout Merlin Entertainments, the second largest attractions operator in the world, and was sent to Dubai for the international press announcement of LEGOLAND ® Dubai and to Malaysia for the grand opening media coverage of LEGOLAND ® Malaysia. Here in the United States, Estrada managed PR for the announcement of LEGOLAND ® Florida and the opening of LEGOLAND ® Hotel at LEGOLAND ® Florida Resort where she took on the role of Media Relations Manager for a year as well as at the California Resort. Her PR leadership was utilized for the opening of The Orlando Eye, Madame Tussauds Orlando and SEA LIFE Orlando in the new I-Drive 360. With the opening of LEGOLAND New York in 2020 and seeing her networking as a strength within the company, Estrada was promoted to the newly-created role of Head of Public Relations North America for Merlin Entertainments Group. In her new capacity, she aligns PR strategies for 30 attractions across the United States and is responsible for attaining national media coverage while evaluating PR efficiency to maximize impact. As a single mom with two boys, Julie is proud to work for Merlin and call San Diego her home.
